Lot Description
Chanel Skirt Suit, 1995
After four decades at Chanel, Lagerfeld earned a legacy as a creative force that reinvigorated the heritage label, infusing it with postmodern playfulness while honoring its roots. Equally versed in the languages of popular culture and the craft and traditions of couture, a combination described as ‘high fashion and high camp’, Lagerfeld’s reinvention of the brand and marketing savvy created a voracious appetite among young buyers, sealing the fate of the iconic double CC logo into this century’s visual lexicon.
Pink and white cotton-blend plaid fabric woven with shiny threads and trimmed with sequins. The jacket is cut with a crew neckline, sleeves cut in one piece with the front and back of the jacket, four pockets on the front, and a center front button closure. The skirt has a wide yoke at the waist and closes with a zip. The jacket and skirt are lined with pink satin woven with the CC logo. There are no sequins on the skirt.
