AN AMERICAN SILVER TEA SET

Ca. 1836

Comprising a teapot, cream jug and covered sugar bowl, each with a shaped oblong body below a milled shell-chased neck rim, the teapot and sugar bowl with domed covers, and all on conforming low spreading bases with gadrooned rims and supported on four ball feet. Initialled F (script) on one side of each. The teapot marked Jas.Thomson [twice]New York 1836, the cream jug and sugar bowl marked M:CONNELL overstamping HARVEY LEWIS. Dents to spout of teapot, handles and ball feet, unevenness to foot rims of all.. H. of teapot: 8-1/4 in.; total wt.: 57 oz.
