A GOOD CONTINENTAL SILVER GILT VASE

The circular basket-weave body with two intertwined snake handles and a removable amethyst colored glass liner tapering to base engraved with scrolling foliage and set with cabochon colored pastes, the stem and spreading domed foot with six lobed sections each engraved with scrolls around a chased shell and a different colored stone, all enclosed by a shaped reeded foot rim. Two splits to rim at top, small hole in spreading foot at base of stem, lacking three colored stones.H: 5-7/8 in.
