Lot Description

[POLITICS]. A group of 15 political campaign buttons promoting John W. Davis, Robert M. LaFollette, Alfred E. Smith, and Charles E. Hughes. 

4 buttons promoting Charles E. Hughes for both governor of New York in 1906 (2) and president in 1916 (2), each 7/8 in. (some with light toning, 3 with original back paper). 
 
[With:] 3 buttons from 1924 promoting John W. Davis for president, each 7/8 in. (some light surface wear, 1 with original back paper). 
 
[With:] 3 buttons from 1924 promoting Robert M. LaFollette for president as the nominee for the Progressive Party, ranging in size from 7/8 in. to 1 1/4 in. dia. (light toning). Includes 2 buttons featuring portraits of LaFollette, and 1 jugate example showing bust portraits of LaFollette and Wheeler with slogan "Peoples Choice / LaFollette & Wheeler." 
 
[With:] 3 buttons from 1928 promoting Alfred E. Smith for president, each 1 1/4 in. dia. One example with red, white, and blue ribbon and bowler hat suspended from the bottom of the button, which is what Smith was known for wearing (some toning to button, soiling to ribbon, surface wear to hat). 

[Also with:] 2 pinbacks containing paper photographs of unknown male subject, the first 1 1/8 in. dia., the second 1 1/2 in. dia. (toning, soiling to images, tarnish to badges). 
 
Together, 15 buttons and badges. Condition generally good unless otherwise noted.
