Lot Description
[LINCOLN, Abraham (1809-1865)]. A group of 5 CDVs of Abraham Lincoln and family, comprising:
Seated portrait of Abraham Lincoln. Springfield, IL: Capital Gallery, C.H. Hall, artist, n.d. (toning, some soiling, edge and corner wear to mount). -- Pres. Lincoln - Wife & Son. Uncredited CDV after the original by Anthony Berger with the inclusion of Mary Lincoln in the image (occasional spotting to print and mount). -- President Lincoln and his son Thaddeus, The Last Photograph the President sat for. Boston: G.F. Bouve & Co., n.d. (light staining to margins, trimmed edges). -- President Lincoln Reading the Bible to his Son Tad. New York: W.I. Pooley, n.d. CDV with black mourning border, after photograph by Anthony Berger. Applied paper label to verso includes title and publication information (toning, some soiling). -- CDV of Lincoln, uncredited (toning, smudge to mount verso). A variant after the original salt print taken by an unknown photographer in 1861, which was possibly the earliest photo of Lincoln as President. (Reference: “Face of Lincoln,” p. 88).
Together, 5 CDVs of Abraham Lincoln and his family, 2 1/4 x 3 5/8 in., or smaller, on cardstock mounts. Condition generally good unless otherwise noted.
