Lot Description

[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. A group of 10 assorted wet plate images of subjects wearing fur garments and accessories, including: 


Sixth plate daguerreotype full standing portrait of a man wearing a long fur coat and a top hat, slightly turned to the side. (Significant tarnishing to edges, with clouding and surface scratching throughout; retains majority of original seals.) Housed in a half pressed paper case. -- Sixth plate daguerreotype seated portrait of a young woman wearing an ornate bonnet and fur-trimmed coat. (Spotting to image and mat; resealed.) Housed in a pressed paper case (nearly separated at spine). The woman stares directly into the camera, her cheeks lightly tinted pink. -- A half plate tintype portrait of a young girl wearing a fur-trimmed shawl and fur muff. (Denting, bending, and heavy surface scratching to plate; housed under mat and preserver only, no glass.) No case. -- And 7 others, including 4 sixth plate daguerreotypes, one sixth plate ruby ambrotype, one ninth plate daguerreotype, and one 2 3/8 x 3 1/2 in. loose tintype, many without full cases. -- Together, 10 images of subjects wearing fur garments or accessories.
