Lot Description
[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. French half plate daguerreotype of a possible mixed race family housed in a wall frame. Lyon, n.d.
Approx. 4 1/8 x 5 3/4 in. daguerreotype portrait of a young man and two women, possibly of mixed race. (Significant tarnishing to edges, spotting and streaking throughout; sealed, not examined out of frame.) Housed in a passe-partout mount within a wood and plaster wall frame (cracking and surface abrasions throughout frame, with significant soiling; image not secured in frame). Paper label affixed to verso identifies the photographer's studio or gallery as "Coffin." The younger of the two female subjects wears a crucifix form necklace and holds onto the arm of the male subject.
