Lot Description

[WESTERN AMERICANA]. A group of 4 northern California photo albums.


Oblong 8vo album (10 x 7 in.). Approximately 54 silver gelatin photographs, largest 5 3/4 x 3 3/8 in., smallest 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 in. (Some toning.) Contemporary brown cloth flexible boards (minor wear to extremities). Views include landscapes, candid portraits, and maritime views. 

[With:] Oblong 12mo album (8 1/4 x 4 3/4 in.). Approx. 53 black and white photographs, most 4 1/4 x 6 1/4 in. Flexible yapp-edged leather, string bound (creasing, chipping). Most are portraits, m any with manuscript captions, dating images from 1919-1923. 

[With:] Oblong 12mo album (7 x 5 3/8 in.). Approx. 81 photographs, largest 4 7/8 x 3 3/4 in., smallest 1 1/2 x 1 in. (occasional creasing, toning). Black cloth yapp-edged flexible boards (wear to extremities, minor staining). With manuscript captions dating images to 1901-1902 in Monterey, California. Subjects include portraits, landscapes, and architecture including several missions. 

[Also with:] Oblong 12mo album 7 1/4 x 4 5/8 in. Approx. 21 photographs, most 4 3/8 x 6 1/2 in. (occasional short tears, some toning). Contemporary flexible leatherette gilt (loss to spine, corners chipped). Includes portraits and outdoor views. 

[Also with:] 3 1/2 x 5 1/4 in. image captioned "Joe" The dog faced boy." affixed to disbound album cover. (Toned, creasing, soiling).
