[EDISON, Thomas A. (1847-1931)]. Edison Projecting Kinetoscope, No. 3691. Edison Mfg. Co., Orange, NJ. Ca early 20th century.
14 1/4 x 9 x 6 in. Edison Projecting Kinetoscope, including oak case (wear, some damage to oak case, incl. two cracks to front of case). Mechanism is incomplete, lacking the lens, crank, and other hardware. Includes metal plaque inscribed, "Edison Projecting Kinetoscope, Patented by Thomas A. Edison...Edison Mfg. Co., Orange, NJ, USA," with 1893 and 1897 patent dates and serial number 3691.
The Edison Projecting Kinetoscope represents one of the most classic 35mm hand crank cinema projectors, capable of projecting a moving film image in a small auditorium.
