[NATIVE AMERICANS]. REED, Roland W. (1864-1934), photographer. Confusion. 1907.
13 1/2 x 10 1/2 in. silver gelatin photograph on 20 x 16 in. mount (print in very good condition, few creases near edges, light corner and edge wear to print; corner and edge wear to mounts, incl. tear to left edge, staining to verso). Roland W. Reed's 1907 copyright in the lower margin of print.
Royal W. "Roland" Reed, Jr. was a prominent early 20th century photographer and Pictorialist. His work emphasized Native American life as it might have been rather than simply recording it. With his photography, Reed set out to capture and preserve the vanishing life and culture of Indian people.
