[FRATERNAL ORGANIZATIONS]. A group of Masonic items incl. 3 large framed prints, sashes, and 3 linked signs.
Three Masonic prints/charts depicting Freemasonry signs and symbols, comprising: a framed chart by John Sherer with top half featuring "Sect: 1st" and "Corn Wine & Oil" and "Prayer" and bottom half featuring "Sect: 2nd," steps leading down each bearing one of the seven Liberal Arts & Sciences, then orders of architecture juxtaposed with a sense. The Pettibone Brothers Manufacturing Co., Fraternity Publishers, Cincinnati, OH, 1868. 30 x 45 in. (sight), framed to 34 x 48 3/4 in. (scattered creasing and abrasions, small loss bottom left corner). -- Framed chart top half featuring "Sec. 1st / Sec. 2nd," "Friendship. Morality. Brotherly Love." with associated symbols and phrases, then bottom half "Sec. 3rd" with assorted illustrations and symbolic images. The Pettibone Brothers Manufacturing Co., Fraternity Publishers, Cincinnati, OH, [ca late 1800s]. 30 x 45 in. (sight), framed to 34 x 49 in. (scattered abrasions particularly near top center, toning, unexamined outside frame). -- Framed chart featuring an image of George Washington at the top half wearing Masonic apron and sash, bottom half with Masonic symbolism and motifs including "Prayer," "Psalm," "Charter," and "I Am the Truth." (scattered tears and abrasions, heavy wear and creasing near top center, unexamined outside frame).
[With:] Painted white metal linked signs identifying in blue paint the seven Liberal Arts & Sciences from Masonic teaching: "Astronomy," "Music," "Geometry," "Arithmetic," "Logic," "Rhetoric," and "Grammar." Approx. 24 x 60 60 in. when fully extended. -- Painted white metal linked signs identifying in blue paint the Masonic Five Noble Orders of Architecture. Approx. 24 x 41 in. when fully extended. -- Painted white metal linked signs identifying abbreviations for officers "W.M." (Worshipful Master), "S.W." (Senior warden), and "J.W." (Junior Warden). Approx. 24 x 24 in. when fully extended. (Signs generally in good condition, with some oxidation, wear, scratches, and soil. Painting over the "C" in "Composite.")
[Also with:] 10 velvet Masonic sashes, each with a single Masonic symbol suspended via hanger, all with label at back of neck of "The C.E. Ward Co. / New London, Ohio." (Sashes with wear, light soil, and discoloration to velvet.)
