Lot Description

[LINCOLN & ASSOCIATES]. A group of 3 autographed items, featuring: LINCOLN, Abraham (1809-1865]. Autograph note signed ("A. Lincoln"). Addressed to "Sec. of the Navy." N.p. n.d.


3 1/4 x 2 in. (bottom edge of note singed, with much of the signature damaged likely due to fire, adhesive on verso with small portion on bottom of signature). Note reads in entirety: "Sec. of the Navy, please / see the bearer E.L. / Baker, who has a bro / ther in the Marine / Corps. / A. Lincoln."  Lincoln may refer here to Edward Lewis Baker (1829-1897), an editor and co-owner of Illinois State Journal in Springfield, Illinois. Baker was a politically active lawyer, and was married to Lincoln's niece, Julia Edwards.

[With:] LINCOLN, Robert Todd (1843-1926). Typed letter signed ("Robert T. Lincoln"). New York, NY. 9 November 1899. 2pp, 5 x 8 in. (creasing at folds, paper clip rust remnants at top). Addressed to Messrs. D. Appleton & Co. regarding a copy edit in a soon-to-be-published encyclopedia.

[With:] WELDON, Lawrence (1829-1905). Autograph letter signed ("Lawrence Weldon"). Washington, DC, 31 July 1896. 1p, 8 x 10 in. (toning, creasing at folds). Weldon was an Illinois attorney, politician, and friend to Lincoln.
