[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. A group of 5 daguerreotypes and ambrotype of painted portraits, including:


Half plate daguerreotype of a painted portrait of a woman wearing a dress with an off-the-shoulder décolleté, her head slightly turned to the side. (Heavy tarnishing to edges, with significant spotting and clouding to plate, spotting to mat; retains original seals.) Housed in a fully separated leatherette case (surface wear throughout). Modern paper note behind image identifies subject as "Anne Barton / (Sister of J.F. Fraser[?]) / wife of Dr. John Rhea Barton." -- MCCLEES & GERMON, photographers. A pair of sixth plate daguerreotypes of painted portraits of men wearing cravats. Philadelphia: n.d. (Clouding and spotting to images, spotting to mats; retain original seals.) Housed together in a fully separated leatherette case (surface wear). Mats stamped for McClees and Germon. -- And 2 others, including a half plate daguerreotype of a painted portrait of a woman identified by accompanying modern note as Margaret Cooper Collins Wistar, the wife of Edward Morris Wistar (also accompanied by a sixth plate tintype of a young lady), and a quarter plate ambrotype of a painting of a woman wearing an ornate bonnet. -- Together, 5 cased images of painted portraits.
