Lot Description
[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY - SPORTS]. Sixth plate tintype of two South Otselic, NY baseball players posed with bat, with other portraiture, including:
2 1/2 x 3 1/4 in. loose tintype portrait of two baseball players. (Some mottling to image surface, with bending and denting to plate.) The uniformed players sit on chairs next to one another with a baseball bat resting on both of their laps. Their shirts read "S. Otselic." -- Ninth plate ambrotype portrait of a man. (Good clarity; resealed.) Housed in a pressed paper case (light surface wear). The gentleman is posed wearing a bowtie and patterned vest. Penciled inscription behind image reads, "Taken in the 1859 Down to [indecipherable]." -- Together, 2 cased images.
[With:] 3 1/4 x 3 1/2 in. red leatherette tintype album containing 80 gem-sized tintype portraits. -- 3 1/4 x 2 in. red leatherette tintype album containing 24 gem-sized tintype portraits. -- 3 1/4 x 2 in. red leatherette tintype album containing 48 gem-sized tintype portraits. -- Together, 3 albums containing gem-sized tintype portraits of men, women, children, and animals. Conditions generally fine.
[Also with:] Modern black and white paper image featuring a baby in a carriage housed in a full ninth plate pressed paper case.
