John Galliano’s Spring/Summer 2000 collection for Dior embraced the stylings of the hip-hop and RnB artists that had come to the fore of American pop culture in the 1990s. Asymmetric denim ensembles, heavily logoed accessories, and leather were shown on the runway to the tune of Lauryn Hill’s recent groundbreaking album. The skirt included in this ensemble was advertised in Galliano’s bold campaign photographed by Nick Knight and featuring Gisele Bündchen. It nods to Galliano’s attempts to toy with Dior’s bourgeois legacy and introduce new influences to the realm of high fashion.

Blue cotton blend denim skirt ensemble including a cropped top stitched jacket with banded collar, 3/4 length sleeves with cinched tab, zippered front and side vents, and front asymmetrical zipper closure; paired with matching denim skirt with asymmetrical drape and snap waistband. The center back of the jacket has a denim panel that is removable with zippers to reveal a see-through mesh underlayer.
