Lot Description
Paisley Shawl House Dress with Watteau Pleat, c.1890
Large woven and embroidered paisley shawls were popular accessories throughout most of the 19th century. As they started to go out of fashion, the rich textiles of these shawls were often used to create wall hangings or were cut into pillows or garments, as in the case of this c.1890 house dress.
