August Wilhelm Holmström (1829-1903), a Finnish jeweler, served as the chief jeweler at Fabergé for forty-six years, initially appointed in 1857. His commitment to artistry and craftsmanship contributed to Fabergé’s allure and success. Holmström is remarked as an important jeweler for several reasons, but his fame is largely accredited to the sheer variety and quantity of his work at Fabergé. Importantly, many Fabergé masters, such as Erik Kollin and Viktor Aarne were trained under Holmström’s guidance. Perhaps the most notable of August Holmström’s creations for Fabergé were his miniatures copies of the Imperial regalia and the Imperial Easter Eggs, which are amongst the most famous Fabergé creations. It is known that he created the Third Imperial Egg (1887) and the Diamond Trellis Egg (1892) and speculated that he created others. Following his death, Holmström was succeeded by his son Albert, who also used the AH stamp, daughter Hilma Alina, and granddaughter Alma Pihl. Today, Holmström’s designs can be found at prestigious museums and in private collections across the world.  

Overall Condition: Moderate scratching throughout consistent with age and use. A few diamonds are missing.
