Julius Alexander Rappoport (1864-1916), born Isaac Ambramovich in the Datnovskii Jewish community, was a Lithuanian silversmith and Fabergé master. After completing his master’s examination as a silversmith in 1884, Rappoport established his own workshop in St. Petersburg. Not long after, Carl Fabergé discovered his work and appointed him as head silversmith at Fabergé’s St. Petersburg branch. Rappaport was best known for his naturalistic animal figures, silver dishware, and silver enameled eggs. His silver work consisted of dinner services, lamps, desk sets, candelabras, centerpieces, and more. Rapoport retired in 1909, leaving his workshop and equipment to his workmen, who established the First St. Petersburg Artel. Today his work is held in prestigious institutions across the world, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Royal Collection Trust, and the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco.

Overall Condition: Acid test indicates the chain is 14 karat gold. Five charms are stamped with Russian assay marks indicating 14 karat gold, two charms are stamped with Russian assay marks indicating sterling silver, the blue guilloché enamel and wrapped gold wire charm is stamped 'I.P' for Julius Alexander Rappoport. Acid test indicates the carved dove is mounted in 18 karat gold and attached to a silver-topped low-karat gold bale. Acid test indicates one charm is 14 karat gold. Three charms are stamped with partially obscured Russian maker's marks. Some light chipping and wear to enamel.
