There is a handwritten label on the reverse, which is likely in the hand of the artist, which reads: "Sunset - The Gap" - Colorful vermillion cliffs form the back drop for the Gap Trading Post - A very uninteresting wood structure. No longer standing-

The canvas is unlined. There are minor deposits of surface dirt and dust, with heavier deposits on the verso. There are two pinpoint brown stains in the center, within the sky and a vertical line of faint brown discoloration along the center left edge, approximately four inches in length. The work appears otherwise appears in overall good and stable condition. Upon examination under UV light, there is no apparent inpainting. Additional images available upon request.
