The present lot is likely a study for the series The Pastimes and Joys of Mankind, created for the first class smoking room of the luxury liner Normandie.

Framed: 29 x 37 1/4 in.
Moderate deposits of surface dirt and dust; sheet is slightly detached from board on lower left corner; rubbing and bumps scattered along all edges; scattered abrasions throughout; small paint losses to the gouache scattered throughout, with a larger area extending through the right-most figures head, approximately 4 inches in length; condition commensurate with age and original purpose.
