FIRST EDITION. Murder on the Orient Express marks the tenth appearance of Agatha Christie's most famous character, the Belgian detective Hercule Poirot. Heavily influenced by the kidnapping of Charles Lindbergh, Jr. two years prior, Christie also included elements of previous journeys she'd taken aboard the Orient Express, which had resulted in delays. The book has since become one of Christie's most beloved, with numerous film, radio, and television adaptations produced. Keating, Crime and Mystery: The 100 Best Books 20.
