FIRST EDITION, FIRST ISSUE. La Vie Artistique was published as an eight-volume series between 1892-1903, with each volume featuring an original frontispiece illustration by a renowned French artist of the period. The first four volumes were published by E. Dentu under the supervision of Henri Floury, who upon departing the Dentu publishing house in 1895 printed the last four volumes of the series under his own imprint. Beginning in 1896 Floury also reprinted the first four volumes of the La Vie Artistique series, retaining the original Dentu title pages but replacing the front covers with his own.
