An English Needlework Sampler
Worked by Elizabeth Docrill, Early 19th Century
worked with polychrome silk threads on muslin, depicting crown flanked by birds and birds in trees, over coat-of-arms flanked by rearing animals, over Pegasus surmounting shield issuing leafy branches, the shield flanked by two Greek goddesses surrounded by deer, the bottom inscribed, "Elizabeth Docrill/ Her Sampler/ Finished July the 18th the Year of 18/ And in the 18th Year of her Age", framed.
12 1/4 x 13 1/4 inches (visible), 16 3/4 x 17 5/8 inches (frame).
