Lot comprised of 16 photographs, mostly CDVs, documenting soldiers at camp, on duty, and during their downtime. Conditions overall good, with occasional toning, soiling, and edge and corner wear to mounts. Some mounts trimmed. Includes the following highlights:

CDV, outdoor view of a structure identified in period notation on mount surrounding the image as "Fort Mansfield, Near Washington, DC., Lieut. Colonel Wm. H. Seward Jr." Verso imprint of "J.R. Blakely, Artist, Co. A, 9th N.Y.V. Art'y." Research indicates that Blakely served with Co. A, 9th New York Heavy Artillery, and was KIA at Cold Harbor on 6/1/1864. -- -- CDV, vignetted portrait of young man identified on verso as "William H. Seward Jr., Auburn, NY." Auburn, NY: Fowler's Photographic "Speciallite."
