3 Hanover Terrace, (London), June 7, 1861. Single sheet, 8 x 5 in. (203 x 127 mm). One-page autograph note, signed in the third person by Charles Dickens in blue ink to Messrs. Head & Co.: "Mr Charles Dickens sends his compliments to Messrs. Head and Co. and begs to signify his ready compliance with their request concerning the gardener. He would be happy to facilitate any other preparations on Sir Charles Rowley's return." With Dicken's original personal monogram envelope, addressed by him ("Messrs. Head and Co. / Upper Baker Street"). Creasing from when folded, with light offsetting; soiling in lower half verso; remnants on verso corners from when mounted; envelope worn.
Head and Co. were a London-based estate, auctioneer, and surveying firm, founded in 1820.
