Moderate deposits of surface dirt and dust; canvas is laid to board; inpainting is visible under normal viewing conditions in areas throughout the four figures; a network of craquelures throughout, which appear stable; a previously repaired vertical tear accompanied by inpainting is visible under raking light and extends through the lower left corner and the child's face, approximately 16 inches in length. Under UV light: the aforementioned repaired tear fluoresces; areas of inpainting scattered throughout the surface, with additional repaired tears with inpainting located in the upper center, Christ's face and to the left of his head and extending into his shoulder, as well as possible repaired tears in the neck of St. Catherine.
