stable and sturdy, the surface exhibiting wonderful graining; the headboard and footboard posts are pinned to side rails- and likely with later reinforcement (nails visible); the side rails with some expected scuffing along edges commensurate with age and use, the rails toward the headboard posts with some cracks or splits--possibly from a former detachment from headboard, the joint and splits appear to have been secured; some of the feet and finials with some old losses or chips along edges, the left-facing headboard post with patch to finial; the right-facing headboard post with repaired break where the headboard is inserted; the cushion is not period, but it fits well and the fabric is overall in nice condition, with only minor toning
