each having a quarter-round marble top with turret corners over a conforming case with a single door, the doors mounted with circular plaques depicting Bacchic scenes and flanked by ram mask mounts suspending oak branches, raised on paw feet.

Provenance: Sotheby's New York, November 16, 2011, Lot 322 Guillaume and Jean-Michel Grohe founded their firm in Paris in 1829 and specialized in the Louis XVI taste, but enjoyed enormous success in reproducing many styles. They supplied furniture to many royal households including those of Louis-Philippe, Napoleon III, Empress Eugenie and Queen Victoria. Grohe Freres operated until 1884 when its inventory was sold at auction.
