Deposits of surface dirt and dust; canvas is not lined; a vertical area of possible repair along the center left, approximately 14 inches in length, with spots of associated inpainting; localized areas of craquelures in the proper right shirt collar, in the center left, with an area of lifting paint in the green of the proper right sleeve, in the lower center, as well as in the proper left sleeve, accompanied by two pinpoint paint losses; one small paint loss along the lower center edge; three pinpoint holes in the upper right corner. Under UV light: small areas of inpainting along all edges; possible strengthening of the pigments within the man's face; inpainting to the inner proper left sleeve; two small spots of inpainting in the lower right corner.
