Moderate deposits of surface dirt and dust; canvas is lined; vertical stretcher bar marks extend through the center, mostly visible only under raking light; network of hairline craquelures throughout, which do not distract from the image; one superficial scratch to the varnish along the upper right edge; instances of inpainting visible under raking light scattered throughout; pinpoint dark spots scattered throughout surface, primarily within the sky; under a darkened varnish. Under UV light: areas of inpainting scattered throughout, primarily through the sky, the smaller figures in the water, horses, and within the rocks and water.
