Framed: 64 1/2 x 49 3/4 x 2 1/2 inches.

Moderate deposits of surface dirt and dust; canvas is lined; network of craquelures throughout; exhibits surface irregularities and instances of visible inpainting from past campaigns of restoration under both raking and normal light; one small paint loss in the lower left corner; one small white paint droplet in the lower right corner; a thin line of vertical frame abrasion along the right edge; under a highly reflective varnish. Under UV light: selective varnish cleaning to both figures, leaving much of an older coat of varnish that fluoresces green on the background; craquelures and fills fluoresce throughout; a large area of inpainting extending along the left side of the headdress of the servant woman; additional strokes and dots of inpainting throughout both women's' clothes; small spots of inpainting scattered throughout the background.
