Studio portrait of Yankton Sioux Brave Wan-Mdi-Sa-Pa, or Black Eagle, originally taken by A. Zeno Shindler in Washington 1867.
In the 1870s, Shindler's negatives came under Jackson's control, and prints were put on Hayden Survey mounts.

Overall very fine condition. Image retains rich tones. Few minor spots on mount. Penciled identification on mount verso.
