Hubble, Edwin (1889-1953). American astronomer and extragalactic space pioneer, who was the first to demonstrate the existence of other galaxies besides the Milky Way. Signed FDC, "Edwin P. Hubble," 6.5 x 3.75 in., Palomar Mountain, CA. August 30, 1948. Autographed envelope commemorating the dedication of the Hale Telescope on June 3, 1948, with a three-cent Palomar Mountain Observatory stamp at top right corner.
