Having a yoked crest-rail over a vasiform splat, above a trapezoidal upholstered seat, frame with molded rails with rounded front corners and shaped front seat rail, cabriole legs ending in pad feet, raked square rear legs joined with rear, side, and medial off-set turned stretchers.

Estate of Gwynne Garbisch McDevitt (1931-2022)
McDevitt was the daughter of Colonel Edgar William and Bernice Chrysler Garbisch.
lot 19: overall exhibiting a nice even surface throughout; some occasional scuffing and scraping to feet and edges; some glue reinforcement to front support blocks and knee returns, with some dried glue drips apparent to underside of related areas and to stretchers; stable and sturdy- the joints to stretchers and leg attachments apparently reinforced / pinned; some loss to surface finish to stretchers; interior of seat frame marked “III”; age crack to back right-facing leg; repaired break to left-facing crest / stile attachment, and the splat reinforced to crest via glue; slip seat appears to be period (and has been reinforced / with a couple new wood segments for support), although marked “VII.”
