The unlined canvas in overall good condition. With light surface soiling at upper left corner. Thin craquelure throughout, mostly in a diagonal pattern. Light abrasions along the bottom of the left outer edge, and at bottom right, to the far right of the signature and date. Examination under UV light reveals scattered, minor, inpainting in the sky at upper left corner and upper center. Specifically, we notice two repairs, which is confirmed by the presence of a small patch corresponding to the leaves at upper center, close to the top outer edge. With scattered, localized and minor, inpainting in the upper right quadrant, mostly in the leaves but also on some of the tree's branches. Similar pattern at center right, close to the right outer edge, and just below, to the right of the main tree's bottom trunk. Pinpoint inpainting on the right cow's back (minuscule inpainted flake) as well at at center left, on the bottom step of the waterfall and on the faraway mountain (feathery retouching). Some more, very precise and thin, inpainting in the water at bottom center/bottom right (appears to be old craquelure filled in). We notice a waxed patch at upper center verso, corresponding to the leaves, but we do not necessarily notice any area of repair. We do see remnants of old greenish varnish throughout, especially in the leaves, the grass and in the water. See Specialist's pictures for more details.
