Provenance: The Luther R. and Frances T. Zehner Collection.

Among the items purchased from Charlie Looking Back's cabin, April 12, 1950: "a pipe hatchet (Iroquois). He had it since 1881. His great grandfather High Bird had it when he was with Sitting Bull's band at the time the band fled to Canada."
