Condition:
The overall condition is fair with the following:
Structural Issues: The stitching throughout the bodice varies from seam to seam but overall is intact.
Split/Separated Seams: The back right waist dart seam is missing some stitches.
Losses: There are at least two missing boning pieces at the back of the bodice and the stomacher is missing. There are some missing silver thread along the front sides, shoulders/sleeves, and opening edges. The silk ribbon sleeve hem tape in each sleeve has several small splits or various small losses.
Fading/Color Change: The overall coloring has darkened from age.
Soiling/Spots: The internal lining has darkened substantially from wear and age.
Corrosion/Tarnish: The silver thread bow at the back hip has darkened from age.
Repairs/Alterations: This bodice shows numerous signs, on both the exterior and interior, of being remade multiple times. The center front stomacher is missing and also are the bones that would have been placed inside the numerous vertical casings sewn to the linen inner layer. Several internal pieces are newer additions which don't match the original lining. There are newer darts at the waist which are unevenly placed. The left side of the bodice is made larger than the right, The neckline appears to have been reworked with the turned facings at center back.
Everything is sold 'As Is’. The stated overall condition of the lot is based on the assumption that the wear is consistent with age and use. The absence of any reference to the condition of a lot does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
