Leslie Hindman Auctioneers to Offer Rare Louis Vuitton Shoe Trunk Among Other Bags in April Luxury Accessories and Vintage Fashion Auction

Chicago, Illinois – March 25, 2014 Leslie Hindman Auctioneers is pleased to announce the first online only auction of Luxury Accessories and Vintage Fashion, a 935-lot sale beginning Friday, April 4th, 10:00AM CST and concluding Tuesday, April 8th, 4:00PM CST. The sale will be held on Leslie Hindman Auctioneers’ online bidding platform.

Included in the auction is a selection of luxury bags and accessories, both vintage and modern. The earliest accessory featured is an extremely rare Louis Vuitton monogram shoe trunk dating to the early 20th century ($7,000-9,000). A Louis Vuitton Centenaire monogram canvas and Leopard print Pony Alma Bag designed by Azzedine Alaïa to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of Louis Vuitton is another highlight of the sale ($1,000-2,000). In addition, a wide variety of Hermès bags, Chanel bags, Louis Vuitton hardsided cases, Gucci Monogram luggage, scarves, belts and other accessories will also be offered.

Fifteen diverse lots designed by the brilliant French artist, Line Vautrine, lead the session of costume jewelry, including an articulated gilt bronze dragon necklace depicting a beast ready to consume a princess ($2,000-4,000). Costume jewelry lots by designers Iradj Moini, Chanel, Miriam Haskell, Trifari, Kenneth Jay Lane, and Hermès will also be offered in this session.

Additionally, Leslie Hindman Auctioneers will sell 297 lots of fine vintage clothing in the auction. The earliest example isan antique peach silk brocade dress (sarafan), which is attributed to 18th century Russia ($400-600). Other highlights include a variety of couture and runway vintage garments such as an Yves Saint Laurent for Christian Dior couture black coat dress dated to 1959, ($1,000- $2,000) and a Chanel couture pink silk chiffon runway gown dated to 1990 ($1,000-2,000 ). A replica of this Chanel gown was worn by supermodel Claudia Schiffer in her debut advertisement as the face of Chanel. The sale also includes garments from revered designers such as Norman Norrell, Guy Laroche, Courrèges, Nina Ricci, James Galanos, Jacques Fath, Givenchy, Geoffrey Beene, George Halley, Halston, Azzedine Alaïa, Thierry Mugler and many others.
