Freeman’s | Hindman welcomes Alexis Vourvoulis as Vice President, Senior Specialist, Jewelry & Watches
Freeman’s | Hindman, one of the nation’s leading auction houses, is pleased to announce the appointment of Alexis Vourvoulis as Vice President, Senior Specialist for Jewelry & Watches. Vourvoulis brings over two decades of deep expertise in high jewelry, global auctions, and luxury retail to her new role, where she will support the continued growth of the jewelry department serving New York and New England regions, while continuing the firm's commitment to client-focused approach to sales and curation.
Vourvoulis most recently served as High Jewelry Team Manager at Tiffany & Co.’s Landmark Flagship, where she led client development, team training, and storytelling strategies that brought Tiffany’s heritage and craftsmanship to life. Her career includes senior positions at Phillips and Bonhams, where she specialized in antique, estate, and signed high jewelry, working closely with private clients, attorneys, and institutions as an expert appraiser.
"Jewelry is one of the most personal forms of art: it carries memory, emotion, and identity in a way few objects can. Joining Freeman’s, America’s auction house since 1805, represents an exciting new chapter—one that allows me to merge scholarship, storytelling, and market insight within a team that values expertise and genuine connection. I’m passionate about helping private clients both sell and acquire exceptional pieces, guiding them through the process with transparency and appreciation for the story behind every jewel,” said Vourvoulis.
“We are thrilled to welcome Alexis Vourvoulis to the team as we continue to expand in New York and the Northeast. She brings extensive knowledge in jewelry and watches, as well as a high touch approach to client service,” said April Matteini, SVP, Head of Department, Jewelry.
Vourvoulis’s background uniquely combines scholarly insight with commercial savvy. She previously taught at the Sotheby’s Institute of Art, where she served as professor of Gems and Jewelry for the Master’s in Art Business program. Earlier in her career, she founded Bijoux Society in Paris—the first private tour company devoted to the history of jewelry—offering bespoke experiences in collaboration with Place Vendôme maisons and museums.
Fluent in French and trained in both gemology and jewelry arts, she earned her Graduate Gemologist diploma from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in Carlsbad, California and studied jewelry arts & techniques at the Haute Ecole de Joaillerie in Paris, France.
Alexis brings a rare blend of scholarly insight and commercial acumen to her work, bridging heritage and contemporary culture to connect clients more deeply with the art of jewelry. At Freeman’s | Hindman, she will help elevate the jewelry department’s profile across both legacy brands, leveraging her international network and nuanced understanding of historical and contemporary jewels to connect collectors and sellers with rare, important pieces—and the stories behind them.
