The Phyllis and Fred Pressman Collection at Freeman’s | Hindman
From the Family Behind Barneys New York
The Phyllis and Fred Pressman Collection at Freeman’s | Hindman
This fall, Freeman’s | Hindman is honored to present The Phyllis and Fred Pressman Collection—a remarkable series of auctions celebrating the enduring legacy of two visionary tastemakers whose influence helped shape the landscape of American luxury.
As the powerhouse couple behind Barneys New York, Phyllis and Fred Pressman transformed the retail experience, redefining style and sophistication for generations. Their personal collection reflects the same eye for excellence that built a fashion empire: an extraordinary assemblage of fine jewelry, American art, design objects, and decorative arts, acquired over decades and across homes in New York City, Southampton, and Palm Beach.
From Bulgari and Harry Winston jewels to paintings by William Merritt Chase and Frederick Carl Frieseke, each piece tells a story of elegance, innovation, and impeccable taste.
The collection will be offered across five curated auctions this fall, providing an intimate look into the Pressmans’ world of discerning beauty and refined living. Special attention will be given to the contributions of Phyllis Pressman, whose pioneering leadership and creative vision—especially as founder of Chelsea Passage—left a lasting imprint on the world of design and retail.
