Freeman’s Western & Wildlife Art auctions offer a curated selection of paintings, works on paper and sculpture across a range of genres by historical and contemporary masters.
The Western, Wildlife and Sporting Art department specializes in 19th-21st-century art, with a special emphasis on expeditionary artists of the early West, the Taos Society of Artists, Cowboy Artists of America, and New Mexico modernists, including the Santa Fe Art Colony and Los Cinco Pintores. Other regional landscape, sporting, and figurative works are among the featured consignments in these auctions, as is a broad complement of North American and African wildlife paintings and bronzes.
In addition to achieving market-leading results for works by Thomas Moran, Frederic Remington, William Herbert Dunton, and Carl Rungius, the department has presented impressive single-owner-sales, including The Wildlife Experience Collection (proceeds to Benefit the Denver Museum of Nature & Science) and The Laumeister Collection of Western & Wildlife Art.
