SUI/TANG DYNASTY
隋/唐 銅鎏金锤揲佛板
of rectangular form, finely worked to depict Sakyamuni seated in dhyanasana with hands in abhya mudra, serounded by a group of monks, atop a double-lotus throne flanked by four Bodhisattvas to each side, under an elaborate canopy decorated with the Buddhist trinity, the lower register similarly styled with six kneeled Bodhisattvas, two monk disciples, and two lions, all above a lotus in the pond.
