thread-sewn and beaded with a floral pattern; lined with patterned cotton; interior with "Dewey Beard, Pine Ridge S.D. October 30, 1917" in red ink
length 23 inches x chest 36 inches
Typed note in pocket provides biographical information for Beard.
Dewey Beard (1858-1955), also known as Iron Hail, followed Sitting Bull to Canada. Later in life, was a member of Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show for 15 years.
