HOWARD, Richard L. History of the 124th Regiment Illinois Infantry Volunteers Otherwise Known as the "Hundred and Two Dozen." Springfield, IL: H.W. Rokker, 1880. Howard enlisted on 1 July 1863 as a chaplain and was commissioned into the 124th IL on 9 September. Mustered out 15 August 1865. -- Military History and Reminiscences of the Thirteenth Regiment of Illinois Volunteer Infantry. Chicago: Women's Temperance Publishing Association, 1892. -- HAYNIE, J.
