8vo. Appendix with charts. (Some spotting.) Original publisher's brown cloth (spine sunned).
FIRST EDITION account of the 95th Illinois in the Civil War. Wood was a lawyer from Belvidere, IL when he enlisted on 4 September 1862 at Rockford, IL as a 1st lieutenant, commissioned into Field & Staff of the 95th on the same day. He was promoted on 4 September 1862 to 1st lieutenant and adjutant before mustering out on 17 August 1865 at Camp Butler, Springfield, IL. He was a member of GAR Post #164 (Hurlbut) in Belvidere after the war. The 95th saw service in the Vicksburg campaign, Red River campaign, and the Battle of Nashville among others.
