Lot Description

[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY] -- [WESTERN AMERICANA]. A group of 3 photographs of western subjects and scene, incl. a frontiersman, gamblers, and a Washington state horse show. 


Cabinet card full-length studio portrait of frontiersman in buckskin. 4 x 5 7/8 in. albumen cabinet photograph on mount (some wear to edges, spotting, scuffing to mount verso). Inscription to verso: "Photo got in chest(?) of J. Baker abt. 1880." -- Cabinet card studio portrait of gambling trio. 4 x 5 1/2 in. cabinet photograph on mount (uneven edges). -- 4th Annual Horse Show Waitsbug [sic] Wash. April 25th 08. Waitsburg, WA: N.p., 1908. 9 3/4 x 7 7/8 in. silver gelatin photograph on mount (a few spots, small impression/pressure mark near upper edge). Outdoor image taken from a height showing dozens of horses, many with riders, in the street with crowds gathered to spectate. -- Together, 3 photographs.
