[COLORADO] -- [NEW MEXICO]. A group of 3 real photo postcards, incl. 2 images taken following the Ludlow Massacre in Trinidad, Colorado, 1914.
2 real photo postcards involving the Ludlow Massacre, a mass killing perpetrated by anti-striker militia during the Colorado Coalfield War in 1914. Titles include: Chavez's Hole After Fire Ludlow Tent Colony, Colo. The image shows the site of the death by suffocation of two mothers with eleven children who had taken refuge under a tent to escape the Colorado State Militia machine guns during the Ludlow Massacre. -- Colo. National Guard Trinidad Colo. Two men are shown in front of tents. The site is the tent colony erected by members of the National Guard involved in the massacre.
[With:] International Air Races Lordsburg N.M. Control 9-9-28 -Conder-. Real photo postcard showing refueling of a plane. Conder may be the name of the photographer. The subject is more likely the National Air Races that were held 8-16 September 1928.
