Lot Description

[HUNTER, Dard (1883-1966)]. Watermark portrait of Dard Hunter. [Paris]: [Perrigot-Masure], [1922]. 


11 1/2 x 8 3/8 in. bifolium with watermark (very light creasing at edges). The right leaf features a portrait of Hunter from a photograph by Clara Ragna Johnson. The left features his name in an Arts and Crafts style font. Used as specimens in Hunter's 1923 Old Papermakingand the prospectus for the 1925 Literature of Papermaking. Provenance: Postmistress of Sunderland, MA, ca 1952 to consignor.
