Lot Description

[HARRISON, William Henry]. Lithograph, sheet music, and other ephemera related to William Henry Harrison and the Whig party, comprising:


Composition book (6 x 7-1/2) Philadelphia: Hogan and Thompson, ca 1840. With manuscript: "Lem[ue]l Weaver Corresponding Sec'y of the Democratic Tippicanoe Club of Urbana Township." Inside, the first four pages are the group's constitution naming purpose, officers, etc. This is followed by three pages of members. 

Lithograph of William Henry Harrison, Ninth President of the United States. Hand-colored. Lithographed and published by N. Currier. Mounted on cardboard. Approx. 10 x 13-1/2 in. (slightly darkened with mat shadow on margins)

Sheet music, "The Penitent Loco a Glee,"  "Adapted to a popular Melody & dedicated to the Northampton Whig Association." 10 x 13-1/2 in. 2pp. 

"Spirit of '40." Election journalism. Print area 6-1/4 x 7 in. on 9-3/4 x 15-1/2 in. sheet. Portland (ME): "Eastern Argus," 1840. "Monopoly and Privilege are once more in the field, against Equality and Right. The power of Corporations again rears its head against the power of the People.... In fine, the decision is broadly to be made now as before, between a limited, economical government, free institutions and a rich people, and a splendid Government, of indefinite power, enriched by the hard earnings of the laboring community."
