FIRST EDITION of Neisen's work, a translation and expansion of Johann Heinrich von Mädler’s work. Neison was frequently published in the Selenographical Journal and co-founded the Selenographical Society with amateur astronomer William Radcliffe Birt. The present work is still prized by Selenographers and spurred interest in selenography, the study of the topography of the Moon.
